If a youth’s behavior leads to being referred for criminal charges, they may enter the Youth Justice System. When a Youth Justice Law Enforcement Referral is made, a Social Worker from Crawford County’s Youth Justice Unit will recommend the proper course of action to the District Attorney’s Office (closure of case, deferred prosecution agreement, or further court involvement). Other times in which a Youth Justice Social Worker may be involved is if a child has met Habitual Truancy status, or has significant behavioral needs in which a parent(s) needs assistance safety managing.
