The ADRC has a Dementia Care Specialist (DCS) that is responsible for assisting individuals and families living with dementia to continue to be active in their community and remain in their homes for as long as they are able. The DCS meets with families individually at the ADRC, online or in their home to counsel, assess, and educate family caregivers about any of the number of diseases under the term “dementia”, including a method to manage behavioral symptoms of the diseases. The DCS can provide resources, such as helpful books and websites, Comfort Library objects, webinars, support groups, book clubs, as well as discuss respite options and future or crisis planning.
The DCS also conducts individual sessions about Memory Screening or Brain Health with any interested individual.
